A day of tinkering and weaving is open to all children and families on 15th August at the PLAYLAB, in the Gracechurch Centre in Sutton Coldfield.  Come along and play at two distinct activities that engage small hands, minds and imaginations in getting curious, creative and innovative.

TRANSFORMERS: you will use basic hand tools to dismantle stuff – such as toasters, old radios or weighing scales etc. – to explore how they work; tinker around with different components; have a go at putting them back together again; or alternatively, use a glue gun and simple materials to transform all the components into your own sculptural creation.

LOOM BANDITS: try out your favourite fishtail colour combinations; experiment with new loom band formations; pick up tips and teach your own to others; and try weaving an object with the colourful rubber bands the world has gone crazy over.

ALL WELCOME. Grown-ups are encouraged to pick up a screw driver or loom and join in as well, or, if you prefer, just relax with a cuppa and some homemade cake in our pop-up café.

The PLAYLAB opens between 10am and 5pm at Unit 214 (opposite Argos, between GAME and Ted’s Potatoes) on Friday 15th August 2014.

Please note, this is not a drop-and-shop service, and children will remain your responsibility whilst on the premises.
